Abstract
Hepatitis A, in contrast to hepatitis B and C, is usually a self-limiting infection of the liver and it rarely causes chronic liver disease. Acute renal failure complicating acute viral hepatitis A is uncommon in the absence of fulminant hepatic failure. We present here a case of a 38-year-old, previously healthy male with non-fulminant hepatitis A, and he developed progressive oliguric renal failure that required dialysis therapy. The patient recovered completely after a few weeks. Renal biposy showed acute tubular necrosis. We describe the association of acute hepatitis A with renal involvement.(Korean J Med 73:S1055-S1060, 2007)
